The Other “Mask” and Treating Your Skin Underneath It
- Sorella Apothecary -
Before you put a mask on:
Be sure that your mask is clean. This sounds simple, but just like you wash your pillowcases to prevent breakouts, you will want to keep these masks free of bacteria. There are disposable masks available, and many of the reusable face masks are washable. Now is not the time to slack on your routine, and this may be the perfect time to try out a double cleanse! Even if you only cleanse once, make sure you’re taking the time to perform every step of your regimen- cleanse, tone, correct (serum) hydrate (moisturize) and protect (SPF)! We recommend incorporating the Main Squeeze Hydrating Serum into your regimen. The niacinamide (vitamin B3) will help maintain the skin's barrier and deeply hydrate the skin.
After removing your mask:
Perform your skincare routine as soon as you remove the mask for the day! Double cleansing and lightly exfoliating will become extra valuable to remove any additional build up on the skin. The Facial In A Bottle Serum has a powerhouse ingredient called azelaic acid. This will fight bacteria and encourage cellular turnover in the skin.
Rosacea & irritated skin:
Friction plus heat is the perfect storm for a rosacea flare-up-making masks the perfect breeding ground. After removing your mask, you will want to use a cool towel on your skin, and avoid spicy foods and physical exfoliants on a daily basis. Allow your skin to rehabilitate overnight with the Rehab Recovery Mask; it will lock in hydration and soothe the skin after a day of mask-wearing.
Normalcy has changed, but it does not mean your skin needs to suffer!
