The Ideal Skincare Routine

- Ease Escape -

Do you ever feel lost when it comes to choosing products for your skin regimen? Not sure what all these steps actually do for your skin?

Yes, you need a toner. Yes, you can exfoliate sensitive skin. No, that apricot scrub is NOT good for you.

If you need a little help in the right direction... Here is a guide to an ideal regimen, all the essential steps for all skin types. Neglecting one of these steps may be the reason you are not seeing results, learn the benefits behind it all.

Cleanse every morning & night to remove makeup, dirt, excess oil, pollution & bacteria from the skin's surface. Without this essential step, all steps performed after will not benefit your skin to the fullest. Layering products on top of gunk will not give you the results you're looking for. An efficient clean (highly recommend a double cleanse, especially for makeup lovers) will ensure that the masks, serums, moisturizers, etc. will penetrate & be able to work their magic!

Toners help restore the natural pH to the skin, balancing oil production to help remove excess impurities. Nourishing the skin with natural vitamins & minerals to provide hydration & improve tone. Use a toner morning and night to ensure a clean, balanced base. Although your skin care products should be pH balanced (if you're using Sorella Apothecary, they are!) most of the time the water we use to rinse our face is not.

Exfoliation increases the cellular turnover (skin's renewal process), healthy cells then replace dead skin cells that clog the pores and dull the complexion. This important step helps prevent breakouts, soften fines & wrinkles, evens & brightens the skin tone, smooths texture and improves product penetration. Exfoliate 1-3x a week depending on your skin type & the season - ask your Esthetician - over exfoliating will do more harm than good.

Target multiple skin concerns in just one step! An extra boost of nutrients, a quick fix to a temporary issue or the perfect way to relax & pamper ourselves! Masks can help deeply hydrate, calm & heal, brighten, draw out impurities, remove excess oil, minimize the appearance of pores and make your skin soft and supple. Use a mask 1-2 times per week to reset & nourish the skin.

A crucial correction step in your routine, a vitamin for your skin- serums give a high quality, concentrated dose of ingredients that boost your results. The perfect way to customize your skin routine! Serums have the power to target & treat multiple skin concerns. Use a serum(s) 1-2 times daily or as directed by your esthetician.

Using an eye cream/gel is very important for this fragile area. Eye creams help to brighten the under eyes by encouraging drainage, decrease puffiness, hydrate and soften fine lines around the eyes. Use an eye product morning and night.

Moisturizers protect the skin from pollutants & environmental damages we come in contact with day to day. They also create a barrier to seal in your natural oils while providing extra hydration. Leave your skin feeling plump and nourished. Use a moisturizer morning and night. Ask your Esthetician which moisturizer would be best for your skin type. Need extra moisture or to keep the oils at bay throughout the day?

Sunscreen = the #1 product for everyone. This is how your skin will defend itself against harmful UV ray damage and environmental factors that cause hyperpigmentation, fine lines, broken capillaries, etc. Wear an SPF every day to keep skin healthy and safe while also slowing the aging process. Add a lip moisturizer throughout the day and at night to hydrate, heal and protect delicate skin.

All these steps can be customized to your skin type, your goals and your lifestyle. Trust me, I know it can be difficult to find 10 minutes to throw on a face mask but you deserve it!
